Dawn ultmately left UNK and obtained a Psychology degree at UN-Omaha. For the beginning of her work career, she worked at the Nebraska Department of Labor in ascending roles -- starting as a rapid response workforce coordinator, then a research analyst, and then regional manager.

In 2026, Dawn updated me to let me know she is now at the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services overseeing the workforce programs there, starting there about 3 years ago. Her official title is "Economic Mobility Administrator". Her update also mentioned that she was writing me from New Orleans where she was accepting a national impact award. updated: 26 August 2026
